Mozart Sinfonia Concertante with Maria Ioudenitch - Sarasota Orchestra with Stephen Mulligan

  • Sarasota Opera House (map)

Throughout history, child prodigies have inspired amazement. This program features works written by great musical masters while they were still youngsters. British composer Benjamin Britten wrote his Sinfonietta at age 18, while still a student at the Royal Conservatory of Music in London. Dedicated to his teacher, Frank Bridge, the work marked Britten as a composer of rare talent. Mozart’s Symphony No. 25, composed at age 17, is a work of high drama, showing an extraordinary musical maturity. 25-year-old Russian-born violinist Maria loudenitch and 27-year-old Jamaican-American violist Jordan Bak have both been amazing audiences since they were teenagers. The two young powerhouses will perform Mozart’s Sinfonia concertante for Violin and Viola, written when Mozart himself was only 23. Stephen Mulligan, most recently Associate Conductor of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, leads this inspirational program.
